governance + threat detection convergence; non-human identity as the new wedge

the control plane — every other surface increasingly routes through identity

Field note

Identity is actively consolidating, not consolidated. Identity-layer M&A and funding stayed active through 2026-Q1, concentrated in non-human identity, ITDR, and modern PAM. Non-human identity is the clearest emerging wedge — Oasis Security pulled a $120M Series B in March 2026 (Craft Ventures lead) into the space — followed by ITDR and modern PAM. The “control plane” framing is empirically backed: capital is flowing here faster than into any peer layer at its size.
